Formation of the novel α-ketol by hydroperoxide dehydrase from flax seeds

Abstract: Hydroperoxide dehydrase from flax seeds converts 13-hydroperoxide of linolenic acid into a novel ketol, (9Z,15Z)-11-hydroxy-12-oxo-9,15-octadecadienoic acid along with the previously described (9Z,15Z)-12-oxo-13-hydroxy-9,15-octadecadienoic (α-ke-tol) and (10E, 15Z)-9-hydroxy-12-oxo-10,15-octadecadienoic (γ-ketol) acids.
