11-Nitrates of 9α,11β-dihydroxyestra-1,3,5(10)-trienes as versatile synthones for the C ring oxidized 19-norsteroids

Abstract: 11-Nitrates of 9α, 11β-dihydroxyestra-l,3,5(10)-trienes are shown to be versatile synthones for the C ring oxidized 19-norsteroids. They were used for the synthesis of 11-hydroxy- and 9-methoxy-11-hydroxyestra-l,3,5(10)-trienes and 11-keto-9-isoestrone.
