Abstract: The multicopy pMW12 recombinant plasmid containing pl10 controlled rplJ gene of Salmonella typhimurium, had a growth inhibiting effect on E. coli host cells. Sequence determination of the S. typhimurium rplJ gene showed its striking homology to the .analogous E. coli gene.
