A NEW REACTION OF 2 ,4 -DlKETOPYRIMIDINES

Abstract: Within a wide pH ranges phosphonous acid selectively modifies 2.4-diketopyrimidi-nes (but not cytidine or purines) by reducing C-5 C-6 double bond. Possible applications of this reaction to the nucleic acids investigation are discussed.
