Abstract: The reaction of tetra-n-butylammonium dihydrogen phosphate and trichloroaceto-nitrile in dry chloroform was studied with the use of 31P NMR spectroscopy. The results obtained are consistent with the intermediate formation of metaphosphate-anion in the reaction. The course of the reaction differed from the analogous reaction with tri-n-butylammonium dihydrogen phosphate as the reagent.
